How you get a licence

The files download without signing up, but at first boot Corellix asks for a licence. The Free edition one you issue yourself, in a minute, with nobody in the loop.

Open an account

Name, email, password. No card and no company details: the account exists to hold your licences together and let you download them again whenever you need them.

Request the Free licence

From your dashboard. Give the environment a name — “Milan branch”, “home lab” — and the licence is issued on the spot. You get one per account, covering one environment: the identifier you choose stays yours, because nobody else can take it. For a second environment, there are the priced plans.

Download the .lic file

A signed text file. It carries the edition, the capacity and the expiry, and the signature is what the appliance checks: nobody can forge one, and you can download yours as many times as you like.

Upload it at first boot

The CorellixSetup.exe wizard asks for it on the Windows VM; with Professional on CorellOS, the appliance's first-boot wizard does. From then on the licence keeps itself current by checking in with our cloud services.

It runs in your own place

Free is on-premise, on a single-node Windows VM. There is nothing for us to provision, and your data never leaves your perimeter.

It is for whoever uses it

Free is requested for your own environment and is not resellable: the relationship runs directly between you and us, which is why it carries community support and no SLA. If you run environments on behalf of others, the priced plans are the ones built to be resold — and your customers can still request their own Free from their own account.

It stays in touch

The installation checks in periodically: that contact is what keeps the licence alive, and it is why Free does not expire while you use it. Two aggregate numbers travel — how many seats and how many nodes — and nothing else: no usernames, no hostnames, no session content. An installation that stays silent stops on its own (after 90 days), and within the year the licence lapses and frees its slot for a new environment — or you close the one you no longer need, from your dashboard, and the slot comes back at once. If you need a genuinely air-gapped environment, that takes a paid plan.

When Free is not enough

You grow without starting over, even when moving from Windows to CorellOS with Professional: what you have already collected still counts, and the seat counter picks up where Free stops rather than resetting.
